Fees are based entirely
on the nature and level of service supplied, and are
agreed in advance. We do not work on a commission basis
and so the client knows the full fee cost at the outset
and donors know that the whole of their gift will go
to the cause they are supporting.
Fees commonly range from £5,000 (eg for a communications audit or development
study) to £150,000 (for the management of a multi-million capital campaign).
Our fees, expressed as a percentage of the total funds raised, range from 4%
to 16%, depending on the scale and potential in each case.
Our fees are neither the most nor the least expensive but, in terms of value
for money (net amount raised for clients after deduction of all costs) we believe
we are very hard to beat.
We recognise that at
the start of service clients may have pressures on their
finances. Our fees are therefore spread over the period
of service (typically five to twenty months) and in most
cases client exposure is protected by a two-month running
break clause.
Our fee includes assignment of the consultant(s), oversight by a senior member
of the Company, and Head Office support, including the resources of our research,
publications and tax-effective giving departments. Where assignments incur
operational costs (literature, secretarial support, telephone, postage, stationery,
travel etc) these are under the control of the client from the outset when
we draw up the operating budget.
Small Charities. We have developed a cost-effective pay-as-you-go service
for small charities who have limited resources to invest in fundraising. By
cutting down sales and operational visits and through appropriate use of questionnaires
and workshops held at our offices, we are able to reduce the cost without compromising
the quality of service.
